Iowa DPH reports 620 additional COVID-19 cases, 1 additional death

The Iowa Department of Public Health releases the latest coronavirus data in real-time. KCCI provides a daily snapshot of the past 24 hours of statistics. As of 10 a.m. Sunday, the Iowa DPH website reports 274,933 confirmed cases statewide since Iowa’s outbreak began, with an additional 620 cases confirmed in the past 24 hours. The Iowa DPH reported 1 additional COVID-19 death, raising the statewide death toll to 3,745. Of Iowa’s pandemic-related deaths, COVID-19 is reported as the underlying cause for 3,439 deaths. For 306 Iowans, COVID-19 was a contributing factor to their deaths. The website said 3,431 of the state’s deaths involved Iowans with preexisting conditions. The Iowa DPH reports 125 COVID-19 outbreaks among long-term care facilities in the state, accounting for 5,212 of Iowa’s current positive cases. COVID-19 outbreaks at long-term care facilities account for 1,137 of the state’s total deaths. Iowa DPH reports 553 hospitalizations, of which 109 patients are in intensive care units. Iowa hospitals admitted 71 patients in the last 24 hours, compared to 76 hospitalizations the day before. Of Iowa’s 99 counties, 30 report 14-day positivity rates at or above 15%. Twenty Iowa counties report a 14-day positivity rate below 10%. According to the state’s website, a total of 1,341,403 Iowans received COVID-19 tests. Iowa’s average reported positivity rate is 12% over the last 14 days. Of the state’s confirmed cases, 228,762 Iowans recovered.
